We want to use livekit sdk on our android and ios app.
We only plan to do voice calls, so have no need for all the Video functionality and to be honest size does matter, and we don’t want to add aprox. 30MB to our apps.
I saw on the webrtc repos that they have the stripped version of the webrtc, the
dependencies {
implementation ‘io.github.webrtc-sdk:android-prefixed-stripped:150.7871.01’
}
Is there some possibility to get an sdk which only contains voice communication and no video?
Interesting. There are no plans for this as part of the official offering, but the client libraries are open source so you could make these changes yourself. I’m not sure how extensive the changes would be but it seems possible at first glance (at least for Android, with which I’m more familiar)
However, Claude seems to think that just swapping the library out would save only about 4.6MB - so whether you would achieve enough savings to make this worth the effort I feel is still an open question.
For android, I. managed to include the io.github.webrtc-sdk:android-prefixed-stripped:150.7871.01, with gradle task- still need to test if it works as before, but for iOS i don’t see that possibility from webrtc.
