Can I use IP address instead of URI for SIP connections?

This question originally came up in our Slack community and the thread has been consolidated here for long-term reference.

Can I use an IP address instead of the SIP URI (sip:******.sip.livekit.cloud)?

My SIP provider is requiring a static IP and says IP ranges are not acceptable.

For SIP routing, you must use the URI, not an IP address.

However, for IP allow-listing purposes, LiveKit has static IP ranges available for some countries:

. Your SIP provider should be able to allow-list these static IPs for incoming connections while still routing via URI.
