According to the LiveKit docs, Telnyx is currently the only SIP trunking provider listed as supporting HD Voice/G.722 with LiveKit SIP. However, the Telnyx setup page also says HD Voice is supported for US customers.
Does that limitation still apply? Specifically, can EU-based businesses place or receive LiveKit SIP calls using HD Voice/G.722, either through Telnyx, LiveKit Phone Numbers, or another supported provider?
Quick context: HD voice means wideband audio. G.722 samples at 16 kHz with audible bandwidth up to ~7 kHz, versus G.711 PSTN's 8 kHz / ~3.4 kHz. That’s why HD calls sound less tinny: consonants and sibilants survive the codec instead of getting filtered out at telephone-narrowband.
For EU specifically, LK’s docs don’t currently have a G.722 path.
The G.722 config itself lives on Telnyx’s portal (enable HD voice per DID + enable G.722 codec on the trunk), not LK’s SBC, so the US restriction is upstream at Telnyx. Fastest verification is asking your Telnyx account team whether their EU SIP trunks can actually negotiate G.722 in practice. If they can, you’re done. If they confirm it’s a Telnyx-side regional limit, that’s a feature gap to file in livekit/sip.
