I see that liveKit recently introduced the native WhatsApp Connector (Beta) for routing WhatsApp Voice calls to Agents. I am currently running a self-hosted livekit server. Is the WhatsApp Connector binary/service available to be self-hosted, or is it strictly tied to liveKit Cloud?
The WhatsApp Connector is currently Cloud-only the binary isn’t available for self-hosted deployments. It’s a managed service on LiveKit’s infrastructure, not something you run yourself like an agent server.
Self-hosted support may come post-beta, but nothing confirmed yet.
To be clear:
The WhatsApp connector is not limited to cloud agents only, so if you are running self-hosted agents, you can still use the WhatsApp connector.
WhatsApp connector is not currently supported on a self-hosted LiveKit server at this time.
